If you're talking about the top of the international gaming industry, Nixxes is the place to be. The Dutch computer game company specializes in portraying games, such as the well-known titles Tomb Raider and Deus Ex. With the growth that the company has experienced over the past twenty years, a search was started for a new work environment, one that is future-proof.
Issue
To create a future-proof work environment, we helped Nixxes find the most suitable location, and identified the (im) possibilities for each object. The choice ultimately fell on the sixth floor of the WTC Utrecht. In one of the most sustainable WTCs in the world, you can now find the connecting space of Nixxes, which is BREAAM certified and has a very clear nod to the gaming industry. Tenants of the WTC Utrecht are bound by the BREAAM WELL Building Standard requirement, which means that the interior must be completely sustainable and comply with strict rules. CONCEPT
After a thorough analysis of the identity, culture, employees and organizational goals, this, together with the sustainability goals, forms the foundation of the interior concept. The idea was to create a space where you feel like you're stepping into a game and you immediately notice that you're in a place where creativity develops. With a social heart, lots of greenery and surrounded by comfortable fixed workplaces for each individual. The social heart is at the heart of the design. It is the area for connection. To meet and inspire each other. The large bar, made of rust-red steel bints, plays a prominent role here. Together with the recycled wooden gym floor, perforated steel and wall-filling visuals, this space connects to the gaming world. This middle core is the space to get the day off to a good start or just disconnect from work on Friday afternoon. In addition, the social heart literally causes movement. It's the only place to get coffee or water. The coffee place is a space where creativity and connection arise. That is why this social heart takes up around 25% of the total surface area. It is of great value to Nixxes.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
A large IT infrastructure. At least three monitors. A headset for calling between different time zones. Employees who are all in their own “bubble”. For these specialists, having their own workplace is a must. With the comfort and autonomy to completely customize and personalize their workplace. For performance. For fun. When necessary, everyone can retire to one of the quiet places. These places are fully equipped with acoustic studded material from the music industry. Everything in this space is aimed at allowing employees to work in a concentrated way. Here, the concept has also been implemented in material and form, from writable walls to climbing frames with shelves where everyone can put their favorite gaming character on.
